Gettin’ Kinda Casual
Over the past few weeks, I used the words “gotten” and “kinda” a few times on this blog and received a bit of criticism for it.
What are your thoughts on this? I like writing the way I speak, but don’t want want to appear unprofessional. Is using slang or otherwise shortened words appropriate for bloggers? In small doses, I find that it makes things more readable.

Hi Parker,
I agree, it makes things more readable and conversational in the right doses. I think it’s completely appropriate for bloggers.
Recently you clarified that this was a personal project that you work on outside of your ‘professional life.’ I say write with as much or as little slang as you feel appropriate.
